Q2. – Will it fit my needs?
A good design solution starts with a clear definition of the function of the space, and anticipation of the use and storage needs in the years to come. Your ASI consultant can lead you through a number of questions to help you resolve these functional requirements, and to make sure that the structure we design for you will be the most appropriate one for your particular needs. Many of our buildings are customized in some way to suit the client.
Q3. – What does the steel building kit price include?
All building kits are complete and include:
- All guttering, downpipes
- Nuts, bolts, screws, rivets, brackets
- Steel portal frame, purlins, girts, roof, wall sheeting and flashings
- Certified Engineering Plans and Specifications
- GST
- Delivery to major towns & cities
Q4. – Are there any extra costs?
- Mandatory Council building approvals
- Site preparation, building platform (concrete slabs or suspended floors)
- Installation of building kit on to platform

Q5. – Are ASI buildings easy to build?
Yes - some of our clients erect their own kit. If you are handy or know someone who is licensed together with our comprehensive instructions, you should soon be enjoying your new ASI building.

Q6. – What if I don't want to build it myself?
ASI Building Systems has a network of licensed builders. There are numerous builders on lists in all states and territories. Q7. – Will it last?
All ASI buildings are manufactured from and produced by Bluescope, using only genuine ZINCALUME® or COLORBOND® high tensile steel. COLORBOND® steel is one of the most advanced building materials in the world. Its superior oven-baked finish resists chipping, peeling and cracking, is non-combustible, termite resistant and offer up to a 25 year structural warranty.
Q8. – What about delivery?
Our 23 dispatch outlets Australia wide mean we can economically deliver to most places around Australia. Some remote areas may be more economically serviced with your own local carrier. Our advertised prices do not include delivery fees.
Q9. – When will my building be delivered?
21 to 28 Days from authorisation and payment.
Q10. – How do I order my ASI building?
Simply contact your ASI Account Manager, confirm your order and they will organise it for you. They will provide you with the details of deposit required and for you to confirm your order details.
Q11. – What if I need to obtain Council approval before I can build?
You will still place your order with a first payment allowing us to:
- Release the Engineering Plans and Specifications for you to submit to council for approval.
- Provisionally place your building into our production schedule.
When approval has been obtained, production of the building will commence after receipt of the production payment.
Q12. – How can I pay my deposit?
We provide you with a tax invoice allowing you to pay by cheque, direct deposit or Credit Card. ASI accepts Visa, Master Card and Bank Card.
Q13. – What maintenance is required?
ZINCALUME® and COLORBOND® high tensile steel has been specially developed by Australians to withstand this country's harsh climatic conditions and minimal maintenance is required.
Regular washing with water will enhance the life of your ASI building and also maintain its appearance and protect your asset.
Areas such as wall cladding under eaves, garage doors and the undersides of gutters should be hosed down at least every six months or more frequently in coastal areas.
Q14. – What do your quoted dimensions mean?
- Span - Is the width of the building measured to the inside of the cladding.
- Length - Overall length of the building measured from the inside of the sheeting.
- Bay Width - Is the approximate distance between columns along the side wall
- Height - Is the height from top of slab or footing to the top of your column. The available height for an open bay building can vary depending on the size of the building and its bay width. You should check this with your account manager.
Q15. – How can I fit the building to my footings or slab?
We offer four types of fitting (on our standard range).
- Brackets - Commonly used gusting slabs with dyna bolts or chemical bolts.
- “In Slab” Brackets - Cast in the slab or footing when slab footings being poured.
- “Column In-Slab Footing” - Actual portal column cast in slab/footing.
- “Anchor Bolts” - Threaded rod, cast in slab/footing for the base plate to be bolted to.
